Lover of LOVE

A humble little blog about the personal happenings in one's ordinary yet blessed life.

There comes a time in a girl’s life…

…when my ‘tinlove.co.uk’ domain expires just as I make the decision to blog more in 2013! Boo.

Now I know these cliche ‘2012 recap/New Year’ type posts can be seen just about everywhere, but I will try and not make this a long one. In fact, I’m going to condense last year’s highlights into a single paragraph…

(Please don’t see this as bragging, it’s all because of God’s incredible goodness!) 2012 started off with a bang! I celebrated my New Year 8 hours ahead of London from the Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines. I was able to communicate from the future ha! I returned to the life of a jobless grad with long ginger ombre’d hair. Shortly after starting my delayed job-hunt, I was blessed with my first ever graduate job! Met some lovely new humans :) My church family celebrated our 10th year anniversary. I went on a weekend Eurotrip to Stockholm with some great friends. Tag-teamed up with my boyfriend and shot 2 beautiful weddings - one of which was set in the lovely French countryside. I sang around a backyard fire, toasting smores with wonderful friends and family in Seattle, Washington [ooh hello clickables]. I also went on my first ever jog over there. Cray! I considered bungee jumping off of ‘The Stratosphere’ hotel in Las Vegas for a minute, but didn’t. I parasailed over the Pacific Ocean in Waikiki, Hawaii. Still can’t believe I finally made it to the stunning HAWAII! (Take me back!) I practiced my lame gun-shooting skills at a Police fire range in Los Angeles. Screamed my head off at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Turned a year older. Edited 2 amateur short ‘film-type’ things featuring my church’s young people. Bagged my first photography client. Celebrated mine and the boyfriend’s 2nd year anniversary. I sang and played the piano for the Lord. Went to my first ever film premier in the West End. Had the opportunity to review a couple of London restaurants. I drank gallons of tea & mochas. Did I mention that I even made a visit to the gym? I happily discovered my addiction to ginger beer, Starbuck’s mocha cookie crumble frappe, wasabi covered peas, Dishoom’s House black daal and a whole host of other things that come under the food & drink umbrella! Yep, an overall fantastic year I’ll say!

Well that wasn’t exactly the slimmest of paragraphs, but we are talking 366 days here! I distinctly remember that it was a leap year because the 29th of February was when I started looking for a full time job and God instantly answered my prayers, as in… within a matter of minutes! Whilst a lot of superb, sunshine and sugary things happened in 2012, a couple of tough lessons were learnt along the way too. I shall share these with you soon. If you’re wondering where my New Year’s resolutions list is, it’s written down elsewhere and is for me to know. This year is already shaping up to be another glorious one - exciting times ahead!!

Those eyes kid you not, it does look a little different around here, I’m still working on a few teething problems that came with this new layout - some of the imagery in previous posts have done a disappearing act. Gah. I spend a fair amount of time checking out other blogs - it’s part of my job - and is certainly one of the reasons why I’ve been re-inspired to ease myself back into writing about life! Thankfully, the boyfriend (who’s getting way too many mentions 0.o) was ever so sweet to renew my ‘tinlove.co.uk’ domain, so here’s me hoping that I take full advantage of it and really OWN this in 2013! Wooooo.

What happens when @Niran7 “serenades” me whilst trying to hit those extra high falsetto notes. No joke - he really does makes that face and that really is my unimpressed face. This is us…as lions. LMAO!

On just a few things that I’ve learnt & relearned…

(Goodness, are we are ploughing through this one or what? Over a quarter of the way through the year & I’ve barely put this blog into good use! No self-condemnation… here goes attempt number who-even-cares?)

  • Selflessness > Selfishness. It’s not about me, it never was about me - in short, not so long ago I went through a frustrating phase where I was so fixated on my feelings, my future, my happiness… myself! I’m still learning. I’m allowing my Maker to step in & show me how to really understand the TRUE meaning of LOVE. Loving others & putting other’s needs before my own. The more I seek, the more I find!
  • On that note, I was reminded to just look up! Even if raindrops attack you in the face. The factual importance of focusing on things above and not worry about the temporary negative horizontals. Reality checkbox is checked with the help of Colossians 3:1-4.
  • Lush’s Dark Angel + Full of Grace are quite a duo. They’ve done such wonders to my former problematic skin. Aux naturales is the way to go. However, I now need some sun to kiss my skin. *sits & waits impatiently for Spring ‘cos this sure isn’t it*
  • I’m still a very slow writer. Brain fart tributes take place on an unhealthy daily basis. Meh.
  • (ignore that awkward bump of confused hair) Colour Conference 2012 was definitely the highlight of this season. I will do my part in the revolution of peace. One love, one heart, one sisterhood. She is one, she is many. (No, it’s not what you think - I didn’t join a sorority, but I’ve been re-inspired by like-minded women who simply want to make a positive difference -big or small- in the world) Selah baby, Selah.
  • I’m officially confused by which keyboard shortcuts allow me to copy & paste. At work I have a Window’s keyboard, at home… I have a MacBook keyboard *sigh* I’ll survive.
  • Today/yesterday (Bank Holiday Monday) was a perfect example of when things just never go to plan. It happens. So let it.
  • Escada have rudely discontinued my signature fragrance ‘Taj Sunset’. Upon hearing this devastating news from the lady at The Perfume Shop counter… my heart actually sank. A moment of silence please. I think I need to get a petition going to convince ‘em to bring it back, seriously.
  • My boyfriend is STILL the best. He STILL keeps it fresh & real. Cheese is STILL in fashion.
  • Our perceptions of ‘cool’ change as we get older. Therefore, in my own right mind… I will be forever, wait for it…cool. Pow.
  • Do yourself a favour & exhale that unforgiveness out of your choking system - forgive just as quickly as you’ve been offended & life will be so much happier. Inhale freedom. Let your emotions obey you, not drive you.
  • I’m over the Draw Something hype & I’m slowly losing interest in Pinterest.
  • Babies and puppies are fascinating creatures. I could watch them for hours (no, not like that) Entertainment at it’s cutest.
  • After almost a year of nonsense roadworks, Bond St/Oxford St is now open. The amount of times I’ve had to sit through those painfully LONG & inconvenient back-road diversions… yea, well guess what TfL? I’ve ditched the monthly bus-passes on oyster for the Zones 1-2 travel cards on oyster & get around much faster via tube. Who’s laughing now? HA! (Although, don’t even get me started on the ridiculous joke known as the District line, cha)
  • You really can’t please everyone, just be yourself & don’t worry about it.
  • Can’t think of anything more for now, I shall leave you with this: God is Good!

Tin Love, xo xo

Hello there, I’m back? I think?

Can we just not get into why I haven’t posted much on here besides recent Instagram photos of my life? I’ll fill you in on the details next time - you can say quite a lot has happened since I last wrote anything, err readable, but for the record we’ll just blame it all down to my flat out, down right, supreme LAZINESS.

I’m sorry blog. I’m so sorrryyyy.

Moving swiftly onwards (as you do)… I just wanted to share this real quick: I finally signed up to Pinterest last week, call me ‘late’ all you like. I requested an invite, gave in… and now all Tin does is ‘pin’.

It’s basically the same act of reposting other people’s whatnot via Tumblr, but a lot more sophisticated. It is addictive! Kind of like that ‘Draw Something’ game? A lot of time is wasted purely on pinning like there’s no tomorrow *sigh*

Feel free to gaze at my ever-growing pin board’s if you’re bored? Better yet, why not follow if you’re nice?

I’ll try & do my best to update this on more of a weekly basis or something?

Alas, we shall see! Thanks for reading! Bye for now, xo

He wrote me a manifesto which can almost be mistaken for a beautiful love poem & designed it into a poster. He then got it printed, packaged & posted to me. Now he’s asking me to pick a frame. #iminlove lol 💗😍😘 (Taken with instagram)
